It Started with My Love for Cats
Purrtalk is a mobile app designed to translate cat vocalizations into human language, enhancing the bond between cats and their owners.

The Problem of existing solutions:
Functionality & Usability(UX): Users struggle with poor navigation and unclear interactions, making the app difficult to use and lowering its overall user experience.
Interface Aesthetics(UI): Many apps lack visually appealing and cohesive designs, resulting in a subpar user interface that fails to engage or satisfy users.
User Frustrations - Operational: Paywalls restrict access to key features, and intrusive review prompts create skepticism and disappointment, undermining the user's trust in the app.

Design Process
Initial Wireframe
Developed an accessible interface through 5 design iterations, tested with 5 users during high-fidelity wireframe development

Design System - Design Tokens
Developed a scalable design system in Figma using local variants, style guides, and design tokens for consistency across all components.

Built a flexible component library with reusable UI elements, enhancing scalability and maintaining visual coherence.
Personalization Experience
Warm On-boarding Experience
Created an emotionally engaging on-boarding screen with hand-drawn illustrations to add a human touch
Tailored Visual Elements
Designed a profile setup process for users to input their name, their cat's name, and select their cat's fur color
Implemented a selection of six distinct cat fur color patterns : Calico, Tabby, Silver tabby, Solid black, Solid white, Tuxedo
Integrated the chosen cat fur color into key app screens, including home and translation pages
Dark mode Implementation
Designed an inclusive dark mode using adaptive color variables, ensuring accessibility and a seamless experience for all users.
Challenges
I had to handle everything on my own, but I didn’t want the product to be limited by just my knowledge.
Actively sought feedback from design mentors weekly and relied on real-world resources to refine and improve the design.
